On impulse, I decided to join the One Skein Secret Pal exchange. I’ve seen Secret Pal buttons on various blogs but never really read up too much about it. Somehow it all seemed too complex for me or the deadline had passed. This seemed pretty simple for a newbie like me. The deadline is May 1st, so I signed up for it last night. (Click on the text below for more details.) I think this will be fun! And most of all, encourage me to knit projects that I may not normally consider, try new yarns and connect with other knitters.

Welcome!
Welcome to the One Skein Secret Pals exchange! This is an event for knitters and crocheters of all ages who understand unbridled yarn lust—the joy of receiving a single new skein of fabulous yarn! We are celebrating the launch of One Skein: 30 Quick Projects to Knit and Crochet by Leigh Radford by starting a new kind of secret pal exchange—the single skein exchange. The idea is simple: sign up via e-mail by May 1, 2006, and receive two skeins of yarn, one per month, in the mail during June and July 2006 from your anonymous secret pal; in return, you mail two skeins in two months to your assigned secret pal. In the last month, August, you finally release your identity and give your secret pal a single knitted or crocheted item made with a skein of yarn—you can pick any pattern from One Skein or get creative with your own designs!
