Knitting and Krush-ing.
While I’ve been busy ignoring this blog because of work, I’ve still managed to knit my scarf for the ISE exchange. No photos for right now but I’ve done about ten repeats from the lace scarf and it’s chugging along really nicely. Hey! This lace thing isn’t so bad at all. I have plans to knit more small items in lace as a result. I’m thinking of doing Branching out perhaps and gifting that scarf to my mom. I like the idea of using single skeins and I love Elsebeth Lavold’s Silky Wool. When I feel more confident, I’d like to do lace using mohair.
The weather hasn’t drastically changed here…yes it is cooler but we don’t see any weather change in the environment. Trees don’t really turn that nice yellow and orange. I have felt the need to knit more though. It’s in the air. And I can definitely feel it with all the knit bloggers out there. Definitely inspiring. So what did I do? Buy more yarn. I’m in the mood for something quick and fun, so that’s “scarves!” Bought some Malabrigo from an ebay seller called Quality Fibers (and borrowed their photos too…) for an Irish Hiking Scarf I hope to make for my boyfriend’s mom. I’ve heard soooo much about Malabrigo yarn, I can’t wait to knit with it.

And I also bought this handspun yarn called Robles. I’m thinking it’s similar to Manos (just guessing since I’ve never knit with Manos) and planning a My So Called Scarf scarf. Maybe for me or I’ll prolly gift it away. It’s got such pretty colours! Pretty fall colours!

I’m fighting the urge to buy more yarn right now. Little Knits has an amazing sale on Nature Wool…about $5 a skein!!! Aaahhh….it’s late but I’m thinking Xmas knitting. At the same time, I need/want to get started on Glampyre’s Simple Knitted Bodice…and Ysolda’s Apocalypse Hoodie. This sounds much more ambitious on paper and unrealistic! I still have socks to finish! Not sure how I’m going to do it all but I guess that means I’ve got my weekends and nights planned.

A quick mention…I ended up going out to this show last night at the Knitting Factory. Nah…no needles actually involved, unfortunately, unless you include the turntable needles. Got to check out DJ Krush, a trip hop electronic DJ who is f*&%ing amazing! He’s on the last leg of his tour and finishing up in Honolulu on Monday, October 2nd I believe. His music is fierce and ballsy! At times you could feel that bass massage your insides and if you had something bad to eat, that wouldn’t be a good thing. His music is definitely ear-candy. He is smooth and the emiminent mixmaster on the turntables. It’s because of him, I can’t stand hip hop played on the local radio stations today. He makes them sound like amatuers and very trite. This man has skills! Heh…ok, see how much I enjoyed the show last night? Man, I think I’m “krushing” on Krush. LOL.
I can’t believe I danced almost the entire 2 hours of it. Sometimes, a night out to just “shake it” is in needed. I no longer do it as often as I used to and forget how fun it is.
Knitting is fun. I’m going get back to that lace scarf now.
Addendum: It’s Socktoberfest!!! Go knit socks!
