Better late than never…

I finally got a chance to take photos of my biggest latest FO (a month late). I’ve normally stuck to smaller knits so this was a big one for me.

Ms. Marigold FO

Knit Project: Ms. Marigold
Pattern: by Zephyr Style
Yarn: Knitpicks Elegance in Cornflower (4 skeins for a size small)
Needles: Addis Turbo #5 32″ circs
Date started: 7/23/06-8/31/06

Notes:
This knit was a good experience for me. I much prefer knitting items in the round, all in one piece, top down. I haven’t done very well in the past when I’ve tried to knit different pieces and then seamed them together. It seems like I have gauge issues and so I actually swatched for this…and have since the last unmentionable disaster knit. The top had a ton of ends to weave which was slightly annoying. I admit it, I am horrible at finishing and it’s definitely something I need to work on especially if I am going to wear it. There are tons of mistakes and weird holes and bumps when I look closely at the knit…but I’m proud to have finished something I can wear. Overall, the knit was fast and good even for a beginner.

Yarn: Knitpick’s Elegance was super soft and had a selection of pretty colours. This yarn was VERY splitty though which was quite annoying. If I knit this top again, I’ll try to do it with a different yarn. Maybe using the bamboo I’ve been lusting after.

Close up of my dreamswatch scarf Dreamswatch

Project: Dreamswatch
Pattern: by Wendy at Knit and Tonic
Yarn: Koigu Kersti #436 (1 skein)
Needles: #7 bamboo dpn’s
Date started: 7/18/06-7/27/06

Pattern notes:

This was a tricky stitch pattern at first. I had to read the directions a couple times to make sure I was doing it right but once I got the hang of it, it got boring. The result however, is gorgeous. Of course, the Koigu yarn had lots to do what that! And the overall affect is lovely. I prolly won’t use this as a head scarf because it just doesn’t work well (trust me, I’ve tried) but maybe an accent scarf. I really should have used both skeins. I might modify the pattern abit to make it into a wider longer scarf next time. I love the result.

The colour is slightly off (too much blue) in the picture on the right..but the close up photos shows a good representation of the yarn.

Those scarves are gorgeous. I’m tempted now to put down my current projects to knit one up. I can’t wait to try Koigu. I’ve never heard of anyone who didn’t love it.
