Stranded knitting fun
I decided to join the Stranded Colorwork Challenge after seeing these amazing Norwegian mittens by Jessica of Fig and Plum. Stranded colour knitting just looks so incredibly complicated (and intimidating)…I think this will be a fun challenge. I’m almost ashamed to say that I’m not doing any Xmas knitting (just two scarves for boyfriend’s mom and my own)…but right now my desire to expand my knitting skillset and to knit socks is larger than anything else…and frankly, I just feel like I don’t have the TIME! The thought of xmas shopping and going to malls makes me feel ill…desperately…anyway, I digress…colourknitting. So what am I going to knit?
I really really dig Hello Yarn’s We Call Them Pirates Hat…Arrrrr! And there were some very cool hats from the Bea Ellis site. Anyway, either way, I will be knitting a hat…or hats.We’ll see. I have a feeling it’ll be slow going until Dec 15th, when I’ll be off for the Xmas break (Yay).
I don’t have too much experience with colour knitting at all. Total newbie. So here we go! I’m just going to dive right in…once I get my ass moving and order the yarn. I can’t wait to see everyone else’s work in the KAL…it’s already very inspiring.

I’m think it’s smart to not do too much holiday knitting. I feel as if I’ve taken on too much this year and may just cut back. I’m thinking of ordering handmade gifts from etsy–it will take the pressure off of me. The Colorwork Challenge sounds fun!

I pretty much swore off holiday knitting after having made so may gifts my first year as a knitter and later seeing the Alien Head Scarf I made my brother-in-law crumpled on his floor under a pile of cd’s.
Colorwork isn’t nearly as difficult as it seems. I’m making Adrian’s Pirates hat for the challenge out of alpaca leftovers and it’s going much faster than expected. I don’t think you’ll have any problems at all.
