A very Meat Head Xmas

I wasn’t going to knit for xmas but decided very last minute to do so. Boy, does knitting with size 15 needles make you feel like you have two left feet (or something like that)…however, they were a very fast knit. I learned that I hate seaming, even with fat yarn and I might have to modify the pattern in the future to knit it in the round…it might make it even easier.

Anyway, here’s what I knit for/over the holidays. I’m really bad at keeping inventory but that’s what this blog is supposed to be about. Keeping track.

FO's Meat Heads Hats be done

  • Six Meat Heads…two days. I think I hate knitting with size 15 needles. Gifted to my nephews and nieces. Super cute, and super quick pattern. I didn’t have time to embellish them though.

Pretty ruffles Misti Ribs and Ruffle Scarf
Project: Misti Ribs and Ruffle Scarf by Misti International
Pattern: Misti Alpaca (Free pattern)
Yarn: Misti Chunky Alpaca in Natural, 1 skein
Needles: #13 straights
Dates: A couple days, week before xmas.

  • This is a great knit, for those last minute presents. One skein of Misti Chunky Alpaca…which was soooo soft and wonderful to work with. It sheds quite a bit and is a bit hairy, however, it’s a great cosy knit, even for California’s winters.

Wassup, mon?
Project: Rasta Hat
Pattern: Free pattern from Marieke
Yarn: Misti Chunky Alpaca in Natural, 1 skein
Needles: #13
Dates: 12/23/06 (1 day only!)

OX looked way cuter than me in this hat, so I had him model it for me. Heh. Again, this was a very fast knit and totally satisfied my urge for quick, instant knits. I wanted something nice and chunky to keep me company over the holidays, and this definitely fit the bill.

Christmas was very nice but I am very glad it’s over. I like knitting for other people but knitting under the deadline was stressful! I was glad when it was all done so that I could get back to my regular knitting schedule. Phew!

On the needles now: My So-Called Scarf, Fetching (from Knitty) and We Call Them Pirates hat. And so much more I want to knit….ahhhh. I wish I had more vacation time but it’s back to work on the 4th.

You need to start doing a minimum of one knitted gift a month toward next year’s Christmas. You will be so surprised how quickly they add up.

I agree! I loved making things for everyone but the deadline was really stressful and I started to get fidgety about knitting something for my son or for me…a non-gift! and for Dulaan and of course, I have another deadline, the Red Scarf.
