Happy 2007!
I finally got to use my present (the loveliest Canon SD600) over the New Year holiday. My brother has one of those really nice fancy digital SLR cameras but I wanted something compact and a point and shoot. So this was my first and pretty much, only choice. I love it!
New years eve turned out better than expected but I didn’t finalize any plans until 5pm that evening. I ended up going to sushi with my boyfriend and his brother and being served wonderful sushi by a chef who was already deep into celebration mode (glug glug glug). He didn’t mess up any of our orders…and it was a great time! He was a riot though and fun to watch. I wish I had taken photos…doh! Afterwards, headed over to a house party where a small crowd celebrated that night. It was very chill and quite a nice way to spend the new years.
So despite my hopes of working the yarn diet…I visited several yarn stores over the last week and added a few more skeins to the stash but it wasn’t too much. So the stores I visited: (and one of these days, I will need to do a quick LYS review of them as there really aren’t that many close to me)
- Knit Witz, San Dimas - purchased 2 skeins of Artyarns Merino for the Fetching gloves.
- Skein, Pasadena - RYC Cashsoft for Fetching…this yarn is yummy soft. Nice selections of yarns.
- That Yarn Store, Eagle Rock -hip family owned yarnstore, okay selection.
- HissyKnit, Glendale - new LYS, nice selection of Debbie Bliss and Noro yarns.
- Unwind Yarn, Burbank - the only yarn store with a selection of GOOD sock yarn! They just got a shipment of Sweet Georgia yarns…OMG! Yes! I now have the Envy colourway.
A friend of mine from Boston was in town for the holidays…I gave her some needles, yarn and the Stitch N Bitch book for her birthday in October…and well, I’m happy to say she’s hooked on knitting. And yarn…hehee..I feel almost evil for enabling but I DO NOT blame her. On her visit, took her to a couple yarn stores and helped her choose some yarns for projects she wanted to work on…it was alot of fun. Amazingly, I didn’t buy anything during our yarn outing but was gifted a nice ball of Debbie Bliss’ Cashmerino Aran (sooo nice and soft!). I’ll be making another Fetching out of that…that pattern is way too addictive and I love how it’s such a quick and instant gratification knit. Everyone needs to knit one of these.
Oh, and I love me my Manos yarn in Wildflowers colourway…this yarn is so purty. The scarf feels like it’s going to take ages…but I NEED to learn about patience.
MMmmmm yarn.
