Today was a good day…because I finally have a FO!
Details
Project: Campfire Socks by Cider Moon
Pattern: http://cidermoon.com/cm0120.html
Yarn: Sweet Georgia Speed Demon yarn in Life Aquatic
Needles: #4 DPNs
Date: 1/11/2007-1/21/2007
Notes: Using larger needles and fatter, squishier yarn made this pair of socks a very quick and satisfying knit. I’m a huge fan of Sweet Georgia yarns already and will definitely continue to support her yarns. I just recently discovered Cider Moon yarns too and, despite my supposed yarn diet, purchased two skeins of Glacier yarns in the Johnny Cash and June Carter colourway. Cider Moon has some amazing colourways! They also have some great free patterns too.
The pattern was very easy to remember but it wasn’t boring either. I suppose because it knit up very fast. I had a few issues with the gusset, and while it instructed to pick-up 11 stitches, I had to pick up an extra five. No matter, since I’m getting more familliar with sock knitting, I was able to adjust and pick up the necessary stitches needed and continue with the sock.
Go check out Cider Moon yarns! They have a fantastic selection of yarns. I would link it but I am having issues with Wordpress right now.
It’s been all about sock knitting lately. And after I pulled out my clothes from the dryer, I realized why I have to buy Superwash sock yarns…I found a pair of socks (the second ones I knit up) amongst the pile. Yes, it wasn’t superwash and it was felted!!! (Noooooo!) Amazingly, they still fit me but they look pretty tiny, it’s comical.
The sock is sitting amongst my newest addition to my knitting library. A really *awesome friend gifted me the Knitting Beyond Edge book, along with the Vogue Knitting Stitchionary for Cables (not pictured) this holiday season. Yay! And of course, I had to get Scarf Style…I’ve been eyeing that book for ages.
Is it really Sunday again? Sigh. Back to the grind.

The socks turned out fantastic! I skip a few rows on the heel flap when I pick up the gusset, which is why I got less stitches, but obviously it works just fine if you pick up every stitch.
Enjoy the books - Scarf Style is one of my go-to scarf books; even if I don’t knit the exact pattern, there’s so much in there that is inspiring.
