Juicy Jaywalkers

Jaywalker collage

Project: Jaywalker socks
Pattern: Grumperina via Magknits
Yarn: Cider Moon Glacier in June Carter
Needles: #3
Dates: 4/9/07-4/16/07

For some reason, these colours really made me think of watermelons. Yum! And despite the pooling, which I didn’t mind at all…somehow it added to the charm of knitting and wearing these socks. It was a joy to knit with this yarn. The yarn was from the always fantastic Cider Moon in sport weight and combined with the jaywalker pattern, these socks were knit in no time.

Mods: I cast on for 52 stitches for a snug fitting sock for a leg circumference of approximately 7 inches around. I knit the rest of the sock following the pattern, heel flap and flat toe.

Overall, these socks are probably the best fitted socks I’ve knit. It also resulted in a nice bright shocking colour, which my boyfriend has noticed my passionate love of in regards to yarn and socks. I can’t help it. I used to be so picky about the colours I wore, and it’s not that I’m not but I am definitely more open to all shades and more appreciative.

As for current knits, slowly trudging through Flair and the Elfine socks. It’s been really tough to get back into the swing of ‘work’ and getting used to the lack of sleep, again. Spring Break came and went too fast. It was very relaxing. One of the fun things I did over the break….whale watching, although I didn’t get to see any (although the dolphins we saw were considered to be part of the whale family) I wasn’t paying attention at the point though because I started getting seasick. Dana Point was beautiful that day.

[…] Bee at Muntu Stitches just knit up some Jaywalkers using the June Carter in Glacier.  The yarn pooled, but in a really cool splotchy way (which doesn’t sound like a ringing endorsement, but the socks turned out uber-neat, just go over there and see for yourself). […]

Love the socks! The pooling doesn’t look bad at all, and the colors are really fun. Nice work!

Howdy! Came over via Cider Moon’s site - love how your June Carter Glacier Jaywalkers came out - I’ve got the same colorway too and thought of these…Your CM yarn colors are wonderful, hmmm, I could use some new CM colors…:)

I love the June Carter Jaywalkers! I have another skein that I think may become jaywalkers. I don’t mind the pooling at all, because the colors are so complementary and contrasty. And the lights mingled with the darks very prettily!
I’m going to have to get more Glacier. We have a LYS here that carries it and I always go when I visit my grandma.

Another Cider Moon / Glacier / June Carter colorway fan weighing in! I’ve seen Jaywalkers done in lots of other variegated yarns but this is the first time I’ve thought to myself, “I’d totally knit these!”

    Your shoes rock too :smile
