Summer summer summertime.

Is it summer already? I’m really looking forward to enjoying this summer, somehow it feels different and I’m determined to make it good. It feels like the last several years that I’ve been hiding out, I dunno…as if in preparation for something important while I went to school and struggled to get by. Well things have changed for me in that department but there are certainly different challenges. This time, I just want my attitude to be different. And it is. It’s all about how you look at things and maybe turning 30 this year has made me realize that.

I tend to be on the slight pessimistic side sometimes and for a while, I’d been unhappy (I admit) about being in SoCal. For lots of different reasons but none that i can’t control. I’m tired of that and realize that this is where I am going to be spending my time for a while and that there are definitely lots of good things about LA despite the nay-sayers, and there are a lot of them. Anyway, that’s not that point but to start of my summer, what better way to watch movies under the open sky.

I spent Saturday night at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery for a movie screening of Gilda. The Boyfriend works as a projectionist this year, so he’s pretty much there every Saturday. He’s three weeks into this gig and I wanted to support him, and of course, watch the movie. How’s that for Hollywood hipster? Eh…just kidding. It is a hip scene but it is a very cool event. It’s $10 dollars donation and the money goes to the restoration of the cemetery. You can bring food, alcohol and friends and enjoy dinner and a movie underneath the summer sky. Plus, the cemetery?!! It’s still a cemetery and it’s creepy when I come to think about it.

And you know what’s creepier? They are going to be screening The Holy Mountain in two weeks! I swear that is the WEIRDEST movie I have ever seen!

Thanks for bearing with me this far and no knitting content at all. I’ve been thinking hard about the Sockapalooza socks. I think I’m going to be knitting with this yarn from Piece of Beauty.

Piece Of Beauty: Sea Bream

Isn’t it lovely? I don’t know which pattern yet. The patterns on my short list are: Roza’s socks, Teosinte, Charade, Monkey, Hedera and RPM’s. I haven’t really decided yet because I’m trying to work on the Montego Bay scarf which I’ve already ripped out 5 times and I’m supposed to get it done by this weekend. Yeah right! The yarn colour is skinny striped…and lightly variegated. I think it’d even look great in a lace pattern like Pomatomus but I really want to do a simple pattern. I’m leaning heavily towards Charade. Cute cute cute!

I dunno why I’m blabbing so much but can you tell I feel good? Hah. Lastly, I don’t own any pets but look who’s made temporary residence in my parent’s backyard. They don’t have a cat either. Until now:

The new mama cat and her four babies have approved of their back yard and currently reside behind the shed. Aren’t they adorable?

*Yawn. Time for bed.

I can well imagine that you were worried for a while about being in SoCal - after all, changes are always something scary and something to adjust to, and that takes quite some time indeed. But I see you’re on the best possible path, the way you made up your mind and decided to see the good and positive things is certainly great!
The yarn that you got is of course something helpful to cheer you up - how very beautiful, what a calm and gorgeous colorway! Looking forward to seeing what you’re going to make with it!
And that cat-family is just priceless, my gosh, these cute little furry faces - I’d so love to hang around with them and cuddle and hug them - too cute!
