Marathon Monday

What
I am in the midst of training for the Nike Women’s Marathon on behalf of the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training®. I am training for 26.2 miles and so far, so good. I am not a runner but I can safely say that I might be a convert. MIGHT. Every evening, I get the urge to go running believe it or not!

When
Sunday, October 21st, 2007!

Where
San Francisco, CA

Please help!
My goal is to raise $4000 and if you can help support the cause and my race, please do so! Visit my fundraising website for details. It’s a fantastic cause and one where the money we raise, goes to research and helps save lives. So if you are one of the few knitting readers who come across this blog…I appeal to you for help and TO SPREAD THE WORD.

Contest
To make things a little more fun/attractive, a contest! For every $10 donated, your name will be added to a drawing the same number of times for a skein of sock yarn from an Indie dyer and a $25 gift certificate from The Loopy Ewe. Make sure to email me with your receipt with a mention you’re a knitter! Thank you in advance!

Running Updates
What I will be doing is every Monday, I will be updating weekly about my marathon trainings and hopefully take photos and write anecdotes about the whole training process. I think it’ll be a great way to keep me motivated and hopefully also get help with my fundraising.

So far, my stats for training the last five weeks are:

Mileage: 33.8 miles
Time: 8 hrs 48 minutes

I’m a slow runner and I really don’t want to push it and risk injury at this point. Compared to when I first started running, I totally feel the difference and it feels great. My endurance is up and aerobic capacity has improved already. I still have some doubts about the whole 26.2 miles. I mean…that is a long way. Sometimes during training, I get this massive fear of failure which at the same time, also drives me to get up, lace those sneakers and go for the run. We’ll see. I guess I need to have faith in myself, right?

Knitting
I haven’t forgotten! Been working on it but nothing to show so far. The transition from the school year to summer school has kept me busy but I promise, knitting content soon in the form of socks. ;-)

Happy Monday All! And Spread the Word!!!
