Reality Check
Yes, I’m behind schedule in my moving but hey, I got nothing better to do at the moment. I’ve moved several times before, each time with the mind of living minimally as possible and getting rid of excess. I’m pretty much the opposite of a pack rat. I love to get rid of things…except yarn. In the last couple years of knitting, I have developed quite a lovely stash, with a lot of sock yarn but I refuse to feel guilty about it. I was told once by Jen (of the Purse-Ho blog) that, it’s her money and she’ll do what she wants with it. I agree.
Most of my yarn when into this big box.
But it has reminded me that I really need to knit more before I get into buying anymore yarn. There are projects I can work on with the supplies I have, and most yarn was purchased with a pattern in mind. Of course, in blogland, seeing all the lovely knits out there, I tend to get distracted and other things get pushed up on my “To Knit” list. I would rather not get into collecting yarn like collecting stamps. All this lovely yarn is MEANT TO BE KNIT.
See? I literally have more yarn than clothes. Pretty sad eh? LOL. The box on the top right has most of my clothes. Ok ok, I have other plastic storage for my clothes but just for comparison’s sake.

Like you, I had to get rid of a lot of things when we moved to Germany. I sold a lot of crap on eBay, packed the rest in boxes, and stored it in my Mom’s garage. I had no idea how much yarn I had until I had to pack all of it into one tub (it was a much smaller tub to begin with, and then I had to go out and buy a bigger one). BUT. I took some yarn along with me. It was packed in its own box, and arrived way before us. When my brother-in-law opened it in front of the customs agent, the yarn spilled out! Poor b-i-l had to explain that it was all for his knitting-obsessed sister-in-law!
Good luck with the move, Bee!
